Trump Appoints Elon Musk to Head "Government Efficiency" Department*

The elected U.S. President Donald Trump continues to select officials for his upcoming administration, appointing close allies to key positions. In the latest appointments, he announced the selection of Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, to lead the "Government Efficiency" Department alongside entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
He also announced the appointments for key positions in the Department of Defense, Homeland Security, Intelligence, National Security, as well as the Middle East envoy and Ambassador to Israel. This comes ahead of a scheduled meeting today, Wednesday, in Washington between Trump and the outgoing President Joe Biden.
Trump stated in a press release about the appointment of Musk and Ramaswamy, "These two amazing Americans will pave the way together for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, reduce excessive regulatory procedures, cut wasteful spending, and restructure federal agencies… which is essential for the movement to save America."
Trump also announced the nomination of Pete Hegseth, a former officer in the U.S. National Guard and host on Fox News, to take on the role of Secretary of Defense in his upcoming administration.
Hegseth, a veteran, served in Iraq and Afghanistan and ran for the Senate in Minnesota in 2012 but was unsuccessful before joining Fox News.
Trump stated in a press release that "with Pete leading, America's enemies will be on notice… Our military will be great again, and America will never back down."
Trump also named South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem to head the Department of Homeland Security, a pivotal position directly linked to the Republicans' strict immigration policies.
In his statement, Trump noted that Noem has been very strong on border security. "She was the first governor to send National Guard troops to assist Texas in confronting the border crisis caused by Biden, and they have been sent eight times in total."
The elected American president tasked former Congressman John Ratcliffe to lead the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Trump's statement indicated that Ratcliffe "will be a brave fighter in defending the constitutional rights of all Americans, ensuring the highest levels of national security, and peace through strength."
Trump also announced the selection of real estate investor and campaign donor Stephen Whitkof to be his special envoy to the Middle East. He appointed former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as Ambassador to Israel, describing him as someone who "loves Israel very much" and will work towards achieving peace in the Middle East.
The 47th President-elect, who is 78 years old, made his first major appointment last Thursday by selecting Susie Wiles as Chief of Staff in the White House.
Wiles was the architect of his campaign, which saw him garner 312 electoral votes compared to 226 for Kamala Harris.
